The Election Commission formally announced the results of the elections to the second Constituent Assembly on 3rd December. 

Quite unexpectedly, the UCPN (M) of Dahal, TMDP, the Sadhbavana splinter groups, MJF (Republican) and other fringe parties boycotted the press meet on the grounds that the voting was rigged- a typical stand of the "losers"

It looks that this is a season for surprises in the South Asian region. First was the national election in Bhutan where the party that was trailing way behind won in the run off with a clear majority.

Despite the threats of using violent means to disrupt the elections by the CPN(Maoist- Baidya Group), the people of Nepal ignored the threats and voted in large numbers for the second Constituent Assembly Polls.

The good news from Nepal is that the elections are on schedule on November 19 and preparations by the Election Commission and the political parties have begun in right earnest.

On 8th September, the Chief Election commissioner declared and I quote “I urge all not to doubt November Polls.”
 
Indeed, the way the HLPC ( high level political committee) was going about its task in a lackadaisical manner, no one was sure that the elections would take place at all on November 19.

With the elections coming within the next four months, doubts are being raised even now whether it could be held on the 19th November as decided by the government and the Election Commission.
